Hello Friends!

Let me introduce myself.

I’m Mrs. Hackett, Owner/Director/Full Time Teacher here at Hackett’s First Step Nursery School. My passion for education first started at UW-Whitewater where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Education: Early Childhood Special Needs and Elementary Education. Upon graduation I spent my next eleven years as an Early Childhood Special Needs and Kindergarten teacher at Edgerton Elementary. While teaching, I furthered my schooling by completing a Masters of Science in Education: Curriculum and Instruction. While in Graduate school, I took a year leave-of-absence to start my family with my husband Dave, having three wonderful kids! I enrolled my three young children at our preschool formally known as Goelzer’s First Step Nursery School. At that time I started teaching at the preschool. Upon Karen Goelzer-McKaig retirement in 2005, I took over ownership. Seventeen amazing, fun, and exciting years later the school slowly transitioned to be renamed Hackett’s First Step Nursery School. I’m so proud of the loving environment and supporting community that has revolved around our preschool since day one!
